Professional liability coverage built for legal practice
Lawyer’s Protector Plan (LPP) is designed specifically for lawyers and law firms, with coverage built around the demands of managing a legal practice and the professional risks that come with it. Backed by a team that includes lawyers, the program brings together dedicated underwriting, claims support and policy features structured to reflect the profession it serves.
Coverage Highlights
Lawyer’s Protector Plan provides coverage for:
Professional Services
Coverage for professional services performed as a lawyer in good standing, as well as a mediator, arbitrator, notary public, lobbyist or hearing officer. It also extends to certain services incidental to a firm’s practice of law, including work performed as an administrator, executor, trustee, title agent or legal expert, along with services performed on behalf of the named insured by “of counsel” and independent contractors.
Authorship Services
Coverage also includes authorship and Bar Association services.
Personal Injury
The policy includes coverage for personal injury exposures such as libel, slander, invasion of privacy, malicious prosecution and other non-bodily injury damages.
Additional coverage features
Includes “First policy issued” language in the Insuring Agreement coverage clause, along with a broad endorsement library that allows firms to tailor coverage to their needs. The settlement clause has been removed, meaning we will not settle any claim without the consent of the named insured.
Supplemental Payments Coverage
Beyond core professional liability coverage, LPP offers supplemental benefits that can help firms manage a range of legal, operational and reputational exposures.
